"Achetée sur le marché de l’art avec une attribution au cercle d’Etienne Bouhot (1780-1862) dont le musée de Cluny conserve une vue de l’intérieur du frigidarium vers 1850, cette vue de la cour de l’hôtel des abbés de Cluny est en réalité de la main du peintre Etienne Truchot.

Le dessin préparatoire, dont la composition définitive ne diffère que par les personnages, est conservé au musée Fabre à Montpellier."
