Description

U.S. Navy crew members use an NP-50 crane to remove a damaged Grumman F-14A-115-GR Tomcat (BuNo 161296) from Fighter Squadron 1 (VF-1) "Wolfpack" from the flight deck after a barrier landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) on 30 June 1984. VF-1 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2) aboard the Kitty Hawk for a deployment to the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean from 13 January to 1 August 1984.

The F-14A 161296 was repaired and returned to service. It was finally retired to the AMARC as 1K0141 on 21 October 2003.
