Notes
  • Significance: The house, constructed in 2 phases in 1880 and 1893 is a 1 1/2 story L-shaped stone structure constructed at the neck of Creswell's Bend on the Colorado River for Ambrose Creswell, one of Coleman County's earliest settlers. Craftsmanship is extraordinary; the stone was quarried on the site, and there is a surviving lime kiln in the vicinity. It has associations with Jonathan Cook, a Texas stonemason of the period. This structure, a number of outbuildings, and fragments of stone corrals are remarkably intact...
