English: Croydon: The 'Hare and Hounds', Purley Way It must be many years since hare were hunted around here, but the pub lives on, in what is not an easy environment. It is on a main road, part of the A23, but most traffic is in a hurry and goes straight past without a glance. The 'Hare and Hounds' was opened in 1773, and originally it was on a quiet lane called Waddon Marsh Lane, which in 1925 became the route of Purley Way. |
