An agent from Barnum and Baileys GreatestShow on Earth made his appearance while wewere at Port of Spain, and engaged passage fora curious collection of Indians from South America,to which he added as stars for the ethnologicaldepartment of the show, the Hindu priest of thecoolie village, and Julia, a beautiful specimenof a coolie woman. The agent paid these Hindustwenty dollars a month for a six months trip,and contracted to put them ashore at Trinidadat the end of their contract. They were all deckpassengers except Julia, who was allowed a cabinand behaved with as much propriety and conven-tionality as any of the passengers.
