Notes
  • Significance: The Gross Covered Bridge is typical example of many small timber bridges built in the county during the last half of the nineteenth century. The simple timber construction of the Burr arch-truss enabled the bridge to be maintained by the neighboring farmers whose needs it served. Only two other timber bridges are actively maintained within Snyder County. Of these three covered bridges the Gross Covered Bridge has maintained the most of its original character. Located in a rural relatively unchanged area, the Gross Covered Bridge is in good condition and is relatively unaltered.
  • Survey number: HAER PA-67
  • Building/structure dates: ca. 1878 Initial Construction
