Object history Das Wappen verweist durch den Abtsstab vermutlich auf das Bestimmungswort des Ortsnamens und die Gründungsgeschichte; Abtswind könnte im Zuge einer vom Kloster Münsterschwarzach ausgegangenen Siedlungsbewegung gegründet worden sein (erste Nennung: "abbatissaewinde" = Wenden der Äbtissin – wohl des früheren Frauenklosters Münsterschwarzach). Möglicherweise steht der Abtsstab aber auch mit dem Kloster Ebrach in Verbindung. Dieses Kloster teilte sich früher die Dorfherrschaft mit anderen Grundbesitzern, insbesondere dem Adelsgeschlecht der Fuchs von Dornheim; deren Wappentier ist der springende Fuchs.
