Description
English: The arms show the lion of the Counts of Berg, who ruled the area for many centuries. The oak tree refers to the (former) forests in the area. The base shows symbols for industry, a wheel and miner's tools, but also 2 swords for the metal (knife) factories.
Deutsch: "In einem durch eine rote Spitze gespaltenen silbernen (weißen) Schild, darin zwei durch ein goldenes (gelbes) Zahnrad schräg gekreuzte silberne (weiße) Schwerter mit goldenen (gelben) Griffen (die Symbole der Klingenindzustrie), darüber schräg gekreuzt ein goldener (gelber) Schlägel und ein goldenes (gelbes) Eisen (die Symbole des Bergbaus), vorne eine grüne bewurzelte, fruchttragende Eiche und hinten ein blaubewehrter roter Löwe (Bergischer Löwe). Im Oberwappen ist eine rote Mauerkrone mit drei Türmen dargestellt.“
