Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Karnap, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen: „ In Blau eine schräglinks liegende silberne (weiße) Pferdepramme mit silberner (weißer) Schnur.“ Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Das Wappen hat sich aber in Karnap nicht durchgesetzt. Im 14. Jahrhundert gab sich die Familie von Carnap ein ähnliches Wappen; in der vorletzten Form mit senkrecht stehender Pramme und braunem Strick, die Farbe braun kommt aber in der Heraldik nicht vor.English: „Azure, a special horse equipment (Pferdepramme oder Rossbremse) Argent with a string Argent.“
The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts. The arms are derived from the arms of the Lords of Carnap from the 14. century. The special horse equipment is used in many arms of Westphalia und Prussia. |
