Object history
Deutsch: Während das Johanniterkreuz bereits das ehemalige Wappen des früheren Johanniterdorfes Dätzingen geziert hatte, waren die beiden Heuliecher - zeitweilig als Wimpel mißverstandene landwirtschaftliche Werkzeuge - die Wappenfiguren von Döffingen gewesen. Nach der am 1. September 1972 erfolgten Vereinigung beider Orte zur neuen Gemeinde Grafenau wurden mit Beratung durch die Archivdirektion Stuttgart auch deren wichtigste heraldische Symbole im Schild des neuen Gemeindewappens miteinander verbunden. Das letztere wurde vom Innenministerium am 25. April 1974 mit der Flagge verliehen.
