English: The arms were officially granted on September 24, 1959. The arms are based on the seal of the local council known since 1400. The upper half shows the escarbuncle of the County of Kleve, to which the area at the time belonged. The meaning of the stones in the base is not known.
Deutsch: In rot über goldenen geteiltem Schilde oben eine halbe goldene Lilienhaspel, unten in Gold fünf, 3:2, rote Schindeln.
Das Wappen entspricht einem alten Schöffensiegel um 1400. Während die goldenen Lilienhaspel auf die frühere Zugehörigkeit von Labbeck zum Herzogtum Kleve hinweist, ist die Deutung der Schindeln ungewiß. Möglicherweise ist es ein Hinweis auf den Tonabbau in Labbeck-Balberg (Tonziegel). |
