Deutsch: Der Gemeinde Niedersprockhövel wurde 1957 durch den Innenminister von Nordrhein-Westfalen ein Wappen verliehen. Es handelt sich hier um ein sogenanntes "redendes Wappen" "Sprock" abgeleitet von "spurca" = Wacholder und "hövel" = Hügel; Schlägel und Eisen weisen auf die Bergbauvergangenheit Sprockhövels hin.
English: The arms were granted in 1957. The triple mountain in the base and the junipers are canting elements ("-hövel" means hill and "Sprock-" is derived from "spurca" means juniper). The adit mouth and the tools symbolise the importance of mining in the area since the 16th century. |
