Object history
Deutsch: Pfofeld liegt direkt am römischen Limes, der im Volksmund Pfahl genannt wird. Darauf weisen die Pfähle im Wappen, die redend für den Ortsnamen stehen, der zum Feld am Pfahl bedeutet. Nordöstlich von Pfofeld sind noch Reste der römischen Grenzanlage zu sehen. Die Farben Silber und Schwarz erinnern an die zollerische Landesherrschaft der Markgrafen von Brandenburg-Ansbach. Die Burggrafen von Nürnberg, und späteren Markgrafen, waren seit 1368 in Pfofeld begütert.
