DescriptionDIAMOND SEA (3522593779).jpg |
The Maltese islands are blessed by being surrounded by one of the most beautiful seas in the world. The Maltese archipelago consists of a group of islands which are blessed by a meek climate and a coastline which affords the residents and the tourists, sights on which to feast one’s eyes. The sunbeams striking the near motionless sea bring out an outburst of shimmering light; the sea becomes a bed of diamonds which reflect from their myriad facets the glimmer of the warm Mediterranean sun. This idyllic scene is complemented by the sleek lines of a sailing boat languidly moving on the diamond studded sea. This natural beauty is ruined by the indiscriminate building of man which destroys the natural horizon and seems to be encroaching on nature. On the other hand one has to keep in mind that Malta is a small island and the St Paul’s area is one of the fastest growing tourist areas in Malta. Malta depends for most of its income on tourism and as long as the majority of tourists who come here are mostly interested in the sea and Malta’s balmy weather we have to keep building in these natural spots, while keeping in mind not to kill the goose which lays the golden egg. If our tourist areas become overcrowded and the surrounding sea contaminated we will lose our charm and less and less tourists come over. a priority is to diversify the tourist arrivals, the sea should not be the only attraction as Malta can offer so much more, such as in religious tourism, cultural tourism and as a hub of international finance.
