cAMP pathway activation and inhibition via G protein-coupled receptors

Summary edit

Description
English: Ligand binding to GPCRs induces conformational change that causes dissociation of G_alpha subunits. The s-type G_alpha causes activation of adenylyl cyclase and the i-type of G_alpha causes inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. Activated adenylyl cyclase produces cAMP that can activate downstream effectors.
Eesti: Ligandi (näiteks gonadotropiini) seostumine retseptorile põhjustab viimases ruumilise struktuuri muutusi, mis kokkuvõttes viivad retseptoriga seotud G-valgu dissotsiatsioonini. Vabanenud G-valgu alaühikute eri tüübid võivad aktiveerida või inhibeerida ensüümi adenülaadi tsüklaas, mis vastutab tsüklilise adenosiinmonofosfaadi ehk cAMP tootmise eest. cAMP on sekundaarne virgatsaine, mis käivitab geeniekspressiooniga seotud signaaliradu rakkudes.
