PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks. This sculpture of an Acadian family was commissioned to mark the 250th anniversary of the tragic deportation of thousands of Acadians from their ancestral homeland between 1755 and 1762. The family symbolizes the experiences of the numerous families that were forcibly uprooted from their homes and sent into exile to face the unknown future in foreign lands. Quebec artists Jules LaSalle and Andre Fournelle created the sculpture, which was unveiled on September 3, 2006. |
