Description
English: A symbol, used by DSE - ΔΣΕ - Democratic Greek Army - fighters for freedom and democracy. Or at least I'm trying to draw that symbol for you :) The blue and white colors stays for the Hellenic national flag. The letter "Δ" stays for "Dimokratia" - the Democracy, which also definitely means the Republic, in our language. In other words, they were leftist republicans, not very fond of Greek monarchs and their staff. The main enemy (opponents ?) of partizants were the former colaborationists from Security Batalions and the police of the former, so called Greek State.
Polski: Znaczek, używany na czapki, zwykle furażerki, przez partyzantów DSE (Demokratycznego Wojska Grecji, 1946-49), czyli naszych ojców i dziadków. W każdym razie spróbowałem dla Was ten znaczek wykonać :) Prócz narodowych greckich barw, znaczek zawiera literę "Δ", jak Republika (gdyż w naszym języku pojęcie republika = demokracja). I o to dokładnie w owej walce poszło - oni absolutnie nie chcieli ani króla, ani jego faworytów. Z kolei głównymi wrogami DSE, w armii królewskiej, byli żołnierze i policjanci, z byłych hitlerowskich Batalionów Bezpieczeństwa oraz byłej, kolaboracyjnej policji.
