Dancers at the Fiesta de San Esteban (St. Stephan), Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886
Photograph of the dancers at the Fiesta de San Esteban (Saint Stephan), Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, 1886. The dozen or so Indians of the procession are dressed in traditional garb including ornate head pieces. They carry various objects including musical instruments, feathers, necklaces, and pieces of their costumes. Onlookers stand in the street at left and sit on the roofs of the pueblo buildings at right.
