English: David Burnes Cottage at 17th and B Streets built by the Burnes family before the Revolutionary War. Marcia Burnes married wealthy businessman John P. Van Ness in 1802 and the cottage remained standing on land adjacent to the Van Ness Mansion. It was torn down in 1894. |
