Original description: Size ~ 7 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. Found Oct 1994. MOB coll.
OK - it's ugly. But it's quite a chunk of powdery dawsonite for Mont Saint-Hilaire. It comes from the upper reaches of the Poudrette pegmatite (or a pegmatite directly above it). In addition to the dawsonite, which often filled entire cavities, the pegmatite produced fairly large greenish genthelvite, uncommonly thick catapleiite and large rhodochrosite, etc. Despite the protection of the dawsonite, most of the larger catapleiite xls were broken.
In this case, the dawsonite includes only some broken aegirine, small catapleiite and very etched analcime (?)
