Transcripción de la ficha: "La obra se inscribe dentro del género pictórico conocido como «pintura de castas», que cuenta del mosaico étnico que surgió del encuentro de dos mundos. Nutrido por da el interés hacia la clasificación ilustrada propia del siglo XVIII, su fin era catalogar los diferentes, grupos sociorraciales, además de satisfacer la curiosidad occidental hacia los territorios de ultramar.

Las escenas solían ser protagonizadas por una familia constituida por los padres y su hijo en un contexto de intimidad doméstica. Ocho, diez o más pinturas conformaban las series. Registro como símbolo de una sociedad sincrética, compleja y mestiza, entre la tradición indígena, europea, negra y oriental en el crisol americano." (Símbolo y Reino, 2023)
