Dessin. Voici comment le livret explique le sujet de ce tableau de M. de Rudder : « Jehan d’Armagnac, maréchal de France, s’était révolté pour la seconde fois contre Louis XI, qu’il avait souvent payé d’ingratitude. Guillaume de Montfaucon et Balzac marchent contre lui, attaquent la ville de Lectoure que tenait le comte, le forcent à capituler, et malgré les promesses formelles de la capitulation, ils le font poignarder sous les yeux de sa femme, par ordre du monarque. » Le tableau de M. de Rudder, dont cette lithographie est la reproduction assez exacte, est de ceux qui obtiennent au salon le plus de succès.
