Português: Dedicatória a Salazar nas Ilhas de Zarco da Câmara Municipal do Funchal (1889-1970). Padre Eduardo Clemente Nunes Pereira (Câmara de Lobos, 23 nov. 1887; Funchal, 3 mar. 1976). Filho de João Nunes Pereira, comerciante e de Virgínia Cândida Hortência, fez os seus estudos no Liceu do Funchal, onde tirou o curso de letras, tendo concluído no seminário o curso de teologia. A 17 maio 1913, foi ordenado presbítero no Colégio dos Inglesinhos, em Lisboa, tendo celebrado a sua Missa Nova na igreja de São Sebastião de Câmara de Lobos a 13 jun. 1913, passando a exercer funções na sé do Funchal, paroquiando na Quinta Grande e no Campanário. Em 1916, decorrendo a 1ª Grande Guerra e com a entrada de Portugal no conflito, foi chamado para frequentar a Escola de Oficiais Milicianos em Lisboa, mas com a morte prematura de seu pai regressou à Madeira, repartindo a sua atividade pelo múnus sacerdotal, pelo ensino, pelo jornalismo, pela atividade literária e desempenhou o cargo de procurador à antiga Junta Geral do Funchal. Iniciou-se nas letras na revista Esperança, órgão dos alunos do Seminário, sendo depois chefe de redação da Quinzena Religiosa, Madeirense e Boa Nova, tal como colaborou em numerosas publicações, nomeadamente na revista Das Artes e da História, Almanaque de Lembranças, Diário da Madeira, Diário de Notícias, etc. Chefiou a redação de O Jornal que mais tarde se transformaria no Jornal da Madeira, onde foi colaborador durante longos anos e foi também redator do Correio da Madeira. |
