Description
English: Dedication-slab Cohors I Aelia Dacorum, find 1852, outside the wall of the south guard-chamber of the main east gate of Birdoswald fort. The text is flanked on the left by a palm-branch, on the right by a curved Dacian sword (falx). Inscription: Under Modius Julius, emperor's propraetorian legate, the First Aelian Cohort of Dacians (built this) under the command of Marcus Claudius Menander, the tribune. RIB 1914.
