Description
English: As an F-14 Tomcat roars down one of the four steam driven catapults of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Petty Officer 1st Class John Macaby moves quickly to ready the next aircraft for launch during flight operations in the Persian Gulf on Nov. 4, 1997. The Nimitz and embarked Carrier Air Wing 9 are operating in the Persian Gulf in support of the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq. Macaby, from Kent, Wash., is a Navy aviation boatswain's mate (equipment).
