Description
English: Actor Joe Mantegna introduces World War II hero and Academy Award nominee Charles Durning at the 2008 National Memorial Day Concert on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol, Washington D.C., May 25, 2008. Durning earned a Silver Star and three Purple Heart medals during World War II. Serving as an rifleman, Durning was one of the first troops to land on Omaha Beach during the D-Day Allied invasion of Europe.
