Summary edit

Description
English: Dauphinee’s life of guiding mountaineering, jungle, and desert expeditions for nearly two decades became the source of many of his writings. On all of his expeditions around the world, he often fly fished. In just three years, between 1987 and 1990, Dauphinee trekked alone through the Negev Desert (traveling mostly at night and crossing three borders), traversed the Camino Real across the Isthmus of Panama in the Darien Jungle using only a compass and a hand-drawn map, crossed the Andes in the Cordillera Blanca, and worked at a medical field clinic in the Manus of Peru.

After many years of writing articles and essays for national magazines and local newspapers, Dauphinee’s first book, Stoneflies & Turtleheads, a collection of fly fishing adventures from Maine and around the world, was published in 2013 by North Country Press. Within a year, the same publisher released his second book, a novel, The River Home, a love story centered in a fly fishing community. In 2015, his World War One historical fiction novel, Highlanders Without Kilts was published by Kicking Pig Press. Personal: Dauphinee attended Bangor, Maine area schools growing up and the University of Wyoming and the Harvard University Extension School. Throughout his adult life, he has attained certifications or licensure as a fly fishing guide, a mountaineering guide, an Orthopaedic Physician’s Assistant, Surgical First-Assistant, and an International Expedition Leader. He has been active with a variety of community and civic organizations. He was a semi-pro football player (wide receiver) throughout the 1980’s playing in various leagues in Canada and the U.S., playing his last two seasons with the Marlboro Shamrocks of the Eastern Football League. http://www.easternfootballleague.net He lives in Maine with his wife and two children.
