Description

How do you get a 300-member marching band from Minnesota to Texas? Charter a 747, of course. Actually, there were a bunch of VIPs onboard too. The planes are spendy, though—a year later, the band took two or three smaller jets to Florida.

University of Minnesota Marching Band members getting off the plane in El Paso in preparation for the 1999 Sun Bowl (Gophers vs. Oregon), sponsored by Norwest, er, Wells Fargo that year (this is basically the moment they decided to change their name). No way in hell would we have been able to get on and off the plane like this today—directly on the tarmac, no security or anything.
