Small's pond, and Small's Creek. Small's Pond, on the property of neighbour Charles Coxwell Small, was an artificial mill pond. In the late 19th Century, when the Don River was too polluted to be harvested for ice, Small's Pond remained unpolluted. Homes on the pond had scenic views, but, by the early 20th Century, it too was polluted, and it was filled in. Nearby Coxwell Avenue is named after Charles Coxwell Small. Small, like his father, was Clerk to the Privy Council, Upper Canada's most senior civil servant.
