  • Significance: The Neoclassical-style Central Power House, built in 1908 to supply electricity and heat to the hospital complex, is significant as the first permanent ancillary facility at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Unusual as a utilitarian building exhibiting high-quality exterior architectural ornamentation, the Central Power House has continuously served a critical function within the hospital complex.
