Description

Here is a closer view of the detail surrounding one of the Hobbit Holes. With the exception of most of the flowers, anything outside of a Hobbit Hole is artificial; a prop that could have been used for the movie.

A scene from our tour of the Hobbiton set, made famous in the "Lord of the Rings" movie series. Located on the Alexander Sheep Farm near Matamata, New Zealand, the 12 acre movie set is a must-see for fans and is a delight for those who aren't familiar with the movies, too. 44 permanently constructed Hobbit Holes are on the site, as well as the Green Dragon Inn.

It was springtime in the Shire when we visited. Baby Lambs were bounding everywhere.
