SCORZA, Sinibaldo, born at Voltaggio, nearGenoa, in 1589, was a scholar of Giovanni BattistaPaggi. He painted landscapes, with well-cop-posed groups of figures and animals, and copiedwith the pen some of Albrecht Diirers prints. Hedied in 1631. SCORZINI, Pietro, an Italian painter of the18th century, who studied at Bologna, and practisedas a scene painter at Lucca. SCOTIN, Gerard, the elder, a French engraver,born at Gonesse, near Paris, in 1642. He was apupil of Francois Poilly, the elder, whose style heimitated. Among his prints we may name: The Marriage of St. Catherine ; after Aless. Veronese. The Communion of the Magdalene; after Domenichino. The Circumcision; after P. Mignard. The Baptism of Christ; after the same. The Presentation in the Temple; after C. Le Brun. The Country Life; after Dom. Feti. He died in 1715. JOHN VAN SCOREL

SCOTIN, Jean Bafpiste, said to be the son ofthe elder Gdrard, flourished in Paris in the firsthalf of the 18th century. He engraved after H.Rigaud, Boucher, Watteau, Lancret, Pater, andother French painters. Some of his prints aredated as early as 1710. SCOTIN, Louis Gerard, the younger, the nephewof G6rard Scotin, was born in Paris in 1690, andtaught by his uncle. He came to London about1733, to help in the plates for a translation ofPicarts Religious Ceremonies. In 1745 he en-graved two of the six plates of the Marriage a laMode, for Hogarth, and several plates after FrankHayman. We have also by him : The Birth of Adonis; after Boucher.Belisarius; after Vandyck.And a few more. SCOTNIKOFF, Egor (Georg), an engraver, whoflourished at the end of the 18th century, was apupil and member of the St. Petersburg Academy,where he studied under Klauber.
