Diffraction of light through an optical diffraction grating.

Summary edit

Description
English: Diffraction gratings for transmission of light can achieve diffraction by periodic variations of thickness. Rays scattered from points separated by the period (d) at the diffraction angle, θ, will be in phase and interfere constructively. Any other situation will interfere destructively when summed over a wide diffraction grating. Two rays that will constructively interfere are shown in the image.
