Summary edit
DescriptionDin Lligwy and Plas Lligwy - two estate centres - geograph.org.uk - 755246.jpg |
English: Din Lligwy and Plas Lligwy - two estate centres Din Lligwy has been described by the leading archaeologist Frances Lynch as being "a well-regulated 'estate centre' with houses and working buildings arranged within an imposing wall". It was the HQ of a local chieftain during the time of the Roman occupation and in many ways resembled a Roman villa. Later in the early medieval period the local chieftains made their home on what is now the site of Plas Lligwy.
This photo has been taken along the eastern wall of Din Lligwy. The building in the foreground was a large barn which also doubled as a gateway to the villa. |
