| Description |
English: Dismantled railway to Quainton Road 7. Looking south-east from a road bridge, the undergrowth on the left marks the line of the former Aylesbury & Buckingham Railway, see 963232. Just ahead, the line joined what was then the double track Great Central Railway, see 930184, and which is now a single track line and in infrequent use. There is hardly any trace of the dismantled railway. Indeed the separate bridge that the railway went under, which would have been underneath and just to the left of where the photographer is standing, has been completely removed and the shallow cutting infilled, see 1030790.
Quainton Road station, where the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is based, http://www.bucksrailcentre.org/about_us.html is about 600m ahead just beyond where the track curves to the left. This is the last image in this sequence. |
