JOS. F. DICKMAXX'S CATAI.OGUE OF SEEDS. 35' nUSK=nELON—Continued. IMPROVED LARGE GREEN NUTMEG, vines vigorous, hardy, productive; fruit very large, round, slightly flattened at both ends, ribbed, covered with coarse netting; flesh very thick, and of the highest flavor. Pkt.,5c; oz.,10c; ^4 lb., 20c; lb., 75c. PERFECTED DELMONICO. This improved type is almost a perfect globe in shape; the skin is a pecul- iar grayish-green until ripe, when it changes to a bright yellow. The ribs of this Melon are wide and covered thickly with a prominent netting. The melons average about six inches in diameter, have a very small seed cavity, and are exceedingly thick and lieavy for their size. "The flesh is a deep, rich orange yellow color, and is of very flne grain, without the slightest stringiness. This variety produces Melons of uniformly high quality and is likely to displace all other redoryellow-fleshed sorts. It is a strong hardy, grower and very proliflc. We can recommend it either to the market gardener or amateur. Pkt.,5c; oz.,10c; M lb., 30c; lb., 90c. THE PRINCESS. A distinct Melon and one of the best both for market and the home garden. They are nearly round, skin dark green, thickly mottled; flesh salmon, weigtit about ten pounds. Pkt.,5c; oz.,10c; M lb., 25c; lb., 80c. SMALL GREEN NUTMEG. Fruit of medium size, slightly ribbed, globular. Skin dark green, becom- ing yeflow when over ripe, and nearly covered with broad shallow netting. Flesh thick, a little coarse but of flne flavor. This variety is in universal de- mand for both home and market use. It is the size so much sought after at present by hotels and res- taurants. Our stock is carefully grown and selected, and will be found first-class in every particular. Pkt., 5c; oz.,10c; ^4 lb., 20c; lb., 75c. NETTED GEM. This has become one of the most popular of small or basket Melons. The fruit is oval, slightly ribbed, densely covered with coarse netting. Flesh thick green, very sweet and highly flavored. Pkt., 5c; oz.,10c; 14 lb., 25c; lb., 75c. BANANA. A long-shaped Melon, growing from 18 to 20 inches apart, salmon-red. Pkt., 5c; oz., 10c; }i lb., 25c; lb., 80c. EXTRA EARLY CITRON, a small round Melon valuable on account of its extreme earliness and, great productiveness. The skin is green, becoming yellowMsh at maturity. The flesh light green, sweet and of fair quality. Pkt., 5c; oz.,10c; ^4 lb., 25c; lb.,80c. WATER=nELON. German, Wasser-Melone. French, Melon d'Eau. Spanish, Sandia. Water-melons require a rich though rather sandy soil for best development, and thrive best in warm lati- tudes, growing best in the Southern or Southwestern States, although in warm, sandy soils in this latitude flne crops are obtained. Cultivate exactly as for Musk-melons, except that the hills should be just double the distance upart, namely, eight and ten feet.

CUBAN QUEEN. The skin is evenly striped light and dark green. Flesh bright red, remarkably solid, crisp and sugary. The keeping qualities are excel- lent, thereby making it a desirable shipping variety. ()z., 10c; ,^4 lb., 30c; lb., 60c. JORDAN GRAY flONARCH. Largest Melon grown; crimson flesh, flne; late. Per oz,, 10c; }i lb,, 25c; lb,, 75c, GREEN AND GOLD. Grows to good size; early; very productive, andflneflavor. Oz,, 10c; >^ lb,,25c; lb., 75c. SWEET HEART. This variety has no equal as a Melon to ship to distant markets, and it is so at- tractive in appearance that it is readily sold when all others are a drug. Of tlie largest size, a little longer than thick but nearly globular in shape. Skin very bright, beautiful mottled green. Flesh bright red, firm and heavy, but crisp, melting and exceedingly sweet. This Melon is not only a good keeper, but it improves in quality for a long time after ripening. Seeds dark gray. Oz., lOe; Vi lb., 25c; lb., 75c. There are customers on our list wlio have dealt with us for the past sixteen years and have never, as yet, had any occasion to find fault with our seed.
