Description
English: Dominique Arlas (9 November 1879 – 1 April 1913) was a Paris Foreign Missions Society missionary ministering in the Apostolic Vicariate of Northwestern Szechwan (a.k.a. Western Szechwan, in French:
Se-tchoan occidental
or
Su-tchuen occidental
). Born in Chéraute, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Dominique Arlas studied at the minor seminary of his diocese. He entered the Foreign Missions Seminary on 12 September 1898. He was ordained a priest on 21 June 1903 and left on 17 August 1904 for Western Szechwan. He studied local language at Yang-tao-ki. In 1906 he took charge of this district. He built a hospice and bought rice fields to provide him with some income. He actively worked in the formation of the Christians in his district. He died at his parish in Yang-tao-ki.
