English: Don't Think I'll Go That Way Appearances are deceptive, having had no problems walking the extent of the beach at low tide getting back to the beach next to Littlestone seafront proved a little more difficult. In front is a large build up of silt and the footprints are mine having got so far and reached a depth that went over the boot whilst trying to pull it off at the same time, hence the backtracking. Littlestone is the northern end of what would once have been New Romney harbour and the mouth of the River Rother though the latter moved sometime during the medieval period. An inlet remained but that too silted up through the movement of shingle and the building of a sea wall and was finally eradicated in 1900 when a wall was built across the former opening leaving no visible signs of the former harbour. The resorts of Littlestone and Greatstone were built over it.
