Summary edit

Description A U.S. Navy Douglas R5D-3 (C-54Q) Skymaster (BuNo 56489, c/n 10592, ex-USAAF 42-72487) assigned to Naval Air Station Argentia, Newfoundland, pictured on the ground at unidentified location. Note the alligator with snow shoes and word "Eloise" painted on the side of the aircraft. The snow shoes are appropriate given the cold weather environment at the aircraft's home base. Base legend says someone had a pet alligator at one time named Eloise and the aircraft was named in her honor.
