The man pictured in the bow is Assistant Secretary of the Navy Ernest Lee Jahncke, a New Orleans shipbuilder who served under Secretary of the Navy Charles Francis Adams. Jahncke was United States Assistant Secretary of the Navy from 1929 to 1933.
