English: Dove tower, Lo, Belgium. One of the famous landmarks of Lo is the dove tower and is located in the gardens of De Oude Abdij. Built into a wall which formed the boundary of the former abbey (1093 – 1797) it contains nesting boxes for than thousand doves. It was built by the monks in 1710 as a present for the abbot. In those days such buildings served both as a status symbol and as an important source of food.
