Summary edit

Description
English: Downholme Bridge, low water The River Swale curves round below a steep bank and passes under the road to Marske, whose bridge has quite a steep gradient to get down from the main road on the right bank to a flood plain on the left. The water level here is very low for March, which is a shame as this is the day before the annual Swale Charity Paddle which had to be cancelled this year because this really isn't enough water to float down the river. Just beyond the bridge, the river splits either side of a pair of islands, which provides a choice for canoeists - right is more interesting, but is prone to blockage by trees, whilst left is shallower and wider.
