Description
Deutsch: Drachenschiff am Thunersee, Kanton Bern, Schweiz. Beatenberg, Beatus, St. Beatus-Höhlen, Bahnhof Interlaken West
English: This vessel cruises the Thunersee between Thun and Interlaken in Kanton Bern, Switzerland. One of its stops is at Beatenbucht in Beatenberg Gemeinde. Here an holy Irishman, Beatus of Lungern is reputed to have fought a dragon (note the dragon on the coat of arms). In honour of this, the vessel has been decorated as a dragon. Even the restaurant menu follows the theme, offering such things as drachenflügeli (dragon [chicken] wings). Photo taken on the quayside near Interlaken West railway station.
