Summary edit

Description
English: Dullatur Colliery Building This pit was known as Dullatur Colliery Nos.1 and 2 this remaining building might have been the pit baths. The owners before nationalisation in 1948 were the Cadzow Coal Co. There were two surface mines each 220m long - these were angled roads not vertical shafts. In 1948 output was 60 tons per day (= 16,200 P.A.) by 97 colliers. Average workforce was 192 with a peak of 281 in 1963. The coal mined was anthracite. According to RCAHMS (2006) sinking/production commenced in 1935 and ceased in 1964. This fact has to be disputed as the colliery appears on an 1922 edition of the O.S.
