| Description |
English: Duncan Forbes of Culloden, (1685-1747) An important figure in Scottish history since he was Lord President of the Court of Session at the time of the Jacobite Rising in 1745. As a highlander he was a restraining influence and did not support the Jacobites. His own estate was on the edge of the battlefield of Culloden and following the battle he advocated a lenient policy towards those who had participated. Unfortunately his advice was not heeded. This statue is situated in Parliament Hall in Edinburgh. |
