English: Durham Miners Gala 2007. The Durham Miners Gala is a mass celebration of the coal mining and Trade Union heritage of the North-East. It is held annually, having taken place nearly every year since 1871. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durham_Miners'_Gala An important element of the Gala is the participation of Brass Bands. This shows the famous Billingham Silver Band on the march across Elvet Bridge. Note the man in the centre - it's not just their instruments which are being carried at the trail. See also494370 . |
