Summary edit
DescriptionDusit–Phra Nakhon.jpg |
English: Dividing sign the area between Dusit district (Dusit subdistrict) and Phra Nakhon district (Bang Khun Phrom subdistrict), Bangkok along the canal Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem near Thewet Naruemit bridge.
The outer city moat, Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem formed a boundary. The canal was dug during the reign of King Rama IV to serve as a fortress of the outer city when Bangkok expanded from inner city or today known as Rattanakosin Island. Thewet Nuruemit bridge (often abbreviated as Thewet) is one of five bridges across this canal that were built during the reign of King Rama V. It is considered to be the first because it is located at the northern end where the canal empties into the Chao Phraya river. |
