| Description |
English: Ealing Broadway Underground Station, 6 April 2023. In July 1879 the Metropolitan District Railway opened a branch from Turnham Green on its Richmond line to Ealing Broadway, where their station (with an overall roof) was built almost adjacent to, but separate from, the GWR main line station.
In 1920 the Central London Railway, by then part of the same Underground Electric Railways of London group as the MDR, also reached Ealing Broadway, squeezing in a couple of platforms between the MDR and GWR ones, effectively linking all three stations. In 1961-65 the GWR demolished their station building and built a new one which also served the Underground services, although the MDR’s station remained in existence but in retail use. Pictured is the MDR's overall roof. |
