Early Medieval coin; a penny of Cnut
Description
English: An incomplete Early Medieval silver coin; a penny of Cnut, Pointed Helmet type dating from AD 1024 - 1030, probably style IV (York). The moneyer's name begins with H (probably Hildred or Hildulf) at the York mint. See North Volume 1 (1994) number 787 on page 168. The coin is incomplete, with two thirds of the legend missing, and is cracked along the inside of the legend. It is 17.4mm long, 15.6mm wide and 0.4mm thick. 0.59g.
