English: Simeon stands holding the infant Jesus, looking up and thanking God in the “Nunc Dimittis”. Joseph kneels in front of him, beside a basket with two turtle doves. The Virgin stands to the right with St. Anne just behind her (Luke 2:22, 28). A print made by William Bromley after John Opie. School: British. This is one of the plates in the Macklin Bible. It was also published separately in London in 1795. In the latter lettering below the image tells us that “J. Opie R.A. pinxt./W. Bromley sculpt./London, Publish'd March 25. 1795, by Thos.
